Monthly Membership Meetings

You are most welcome to join us at our next monthly association gathering.  Unless otherwise noted, our meetings take place in the Parish Hall at The Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church located at 800 Columbia Road.

 

Our meetings are held at 7:00PM on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of the summer months of July and August during which no meetings are scheduled.

When you become a Member at this meeting, you will have the right to vote on resident-initiated items on the agenda at the next meeting.

 

Annual membership dues are only $5.00 or $10.00, at your discretion, and proof of residency within Association boundries will be needed to qualify your enrollment and membership. Please refer to Member-approved Association By-Laws for residency requirements. 

 

Your annual membership commences the month in which you pay your dues and is valid for twelve (12) months.  After the twelve (12) month period, your membership automatically expires. 

 

You are welcome to re-new your membership on or before the twelfth (12th) month to ensure you have no interruption in your voting rights.

March Monthly Membership Meeting:

Re-development of 45 Dorset Street

Adam Burns of Burns Realty seeks the membership’s support for his proposal for 45 Dorset Street. The revised proposal includes demolishing the existing Cape Cod-style brick building and constructing a 7 unit, 3 storey building with 11 parking spots.

 

This is a membership voting item.

 

Massachusetts Avenue Better Bike Open House

CANCELLED in order to comply with Commonwealth of Massachusetts emergency order purtaining to COVID-19 

 

BTD will host three Open Houses to promote the Massachusetts Avenue Better Bike Project.

 

This is an opportunity to learn more and share your thoughts about the proposal.  Each Open House will cover the same content.  All three Open Houses will be held at the Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 12 located at 1240 Massachusetts Avenue.  

 

Dates are:  Monday, 23 March 2020 and Wednesday, 25 March 2020, both from 6:00PM to 8:30PM and Saturday, 28 March 2020, from 2:30PM to 4:00PM.

 

Dorchester Chili Cook-off 

CANCELLED in order to comply with Commonwealth of Massachusetts emergency order purtaining to COVID-19 

 

We are so grateful that the 224 Boston Street Restaurant will provide their delicious chili at Dorchester’s Chili Cook-off which is scheduled for Sunday, 29th March from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the IBEW Local 103 Hall, 256 Freeport Street, Dorchester.


224 Boston’s chili will be served by McCormack Civic Association members. There will be music, entertainment, games and prizes -- and all the chili you can eat!

 

Admission is $20.00 for individuals and $30.00 for families of up to four people.

 

Proceeds go to Dorchester Day activities.

 

More information will be available at the March membership meeting.

 

The Strand hosts Dorchester Short Film Festival

The historic Strand Theatre will host an encore Dorchester Short Film Festival, an event produced by Asbury Shorts USA.  The two-hour event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 30th April 2020, will feature some of the world’s top award-winning short films selected from a variety of US and international festivals.

 

JWMCA zoning meeting

Next meeting is Wednesday, 8th April 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carpenter Center, 750 Dorchester Avenue.

 

Police reports

Officer Sean Sullivan of Boston Police District C-6, Officer Michael Keaney of Boston Police District C-11, and possibly a representative of the Massachusetts State Police, Station H-6, will give reports on activities affecting our neighborhood.
