Monthly Membership Meetings

You are most welcome to join us at our next monthly association gathering.  Unless otherwise noted, our meetings take place in the Parish Hall at The Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church located at 800 Columbia Road.

 

Our meetings are held at 7:00PM on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of the summer months of July and August during which no meetings are scheduled.

When you become a member at this meeting, you will have the right to vote on resident-initiated items on the agenda at the next meeting.

 

Annual membership dues are only $5.00 or $10.00, at your discretion, and proof of residency within Association boundries will be needed to qualify your enrollment and membership. Please refer to member-approved Association By-Laws for residency requirements. 

 

Your annual membership commences the month in which you pay your dues and is valid for twelve (12) months.  After the twelve (12) month period, your membership automatically expires. 

 

You are welcome to re-new your membership on or before the twelfth (12th) month to ensure you have no interruption in your voting rights.

Thank you, Home Run Café

Members at the March meeting were delighted with the surprise delicious treats delivered by Hector and his staff from the Home Run Café at 1261 Massachusetts  Avenue.

 

Pipefitters’ Local 537 Training Center's new building

A representative from Pipefitters’ Local 537 Training Center and Offices will be at the meeting to discuss their new building at 40 Enterprise Street in our neighborhood.
 
Become more involved

McCormack Executive Board nominations are due at the 21st May monthly membership meeting.  Please take the next few months to consider volunteering your time and abilities for the good of our neighborhood by becoming a nominee for one of the nine executive board slots. Elections will take place at the 18th June monthly membership meeting.

 

Chili Cook-Off well-represented by D.J.’s Market 

This Association was well-represented by chili donated, once again, by DJ’s Market for this year’s Chili Cook-Off held Sunday, 24th March. We thank Alina Morris and her family for preparing their delicious chili for at least the fourth year in a row. 

 

Special thanks goes to Executive Board member Ken Lynch and his son Michael for serving the chili.

 

Welcome, City of Boston Neighborhood Services Co-ordinator

Our neighborhood now has a new City of Boston Neighborhood Services Co-ordinator, Patrick Fandel. We will have the opportunity to meet Patrick at this meeting.

 

Save-the-date

The Dorchester Day Parade Committee presents “The Dorchester Day Seniors Luncheon” on Thursday, 16th May from 12:00PM (noon) to 3:00PM at Florian Hall.  Event includes lunch, entertainment and prizes. Hall is ADA accessible, close to public transportation and has free parking.

 

Free admission by ticket only obtained by completing and submitting registration form available at the April monthly membership meeting.  Open to Dorchester residents only and seating is limited. 

 

Projects under review by the zoning committee

Next zoning meeting is Wednesday, 8th May 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carpenter Center, 750 Dorchester Avenue.  Proposal for 779 Dorchester Avenue and 3 Dorset Street will be reviewed.

 

Police reports

Officer Sean Sullivan of C6, Officer Michael Keaney of C11, and possibly the Massachusetts State Police will give reports on activities affecting our neighborhood.
