Monthly Membership Meetings

You are most welcome to join us at our next monthly association gathering.  Unless otherwise noted, our meetings take place in the Parish Hall at The Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church located at 800 Columbia Road.

 

Our meetings are held at 7:00PM on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of the summer months of July and August during which no meetings are scheduled.

When you become a member at this meeting, you will have the right to vote on resident-initiated items on the agenda at the next meeting.

 

Annual membership dues are only $5.00 or $10.00, at your discretion, and proof of residency within Association boundries will be needed to qualify your enrollment and membership. Please refer to member-approved Association By-Laws for residency requirements. 

 

Your annual membership commences the month in which you pay your dues and is valid for twelve (12) months.  After the twelve (12) month period, your membership automatically expires. 

 

You are welcome to re-new your membership on or before the twelfth (12th) month to ensure you have no interruption in your voting rights.

Jeannette Daley

We regret to inform you, Jeanette Daley passed away on Saturday, 26th January 2019.  Among the many roles and responsibilities she selflessly took on in life, Jeannette was also Treasurer and a Founding Member of the Executive Board of the John W. McCormack Civic Association.

 

Jeannette will be remembered as a role model for the community in all aspects of her life.

 

Jeannette’s family and her many friends celebrated her life on 1st February 2019 at her beloved Saint Margaret Church.

 

Donations in Jeannette's memory may be made to St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA  02125.

 

Revisions to development plans at 19-23 Clapp Street

Developer James Paskel now wants to construct a 12 unit, 5 storey complex at 19-23 Clapp Street with 20 parking spots.  Paskel’s 2017 proposal was for 9 units, 3 stories.

 

This is a membership voting item.

 

Dorchester Chili Cook-off

Dorchester’s Chili Cook-off is Sunday, 24th March 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the IBEW Local 103 Hall. There will be music, entertainment, games and prizes -- and all the chili you can eat!

 

Admission is $20.00 for individuals and $30.00 for families of up to four (4) people.

 

This Association will serve chili provided by a Polish Triangle business to be announced later.  Proceeds go to Dorchester Day Activities.

 

More information will be available at the February monthly membership meeting.

 

Thank you!

We thank our neighbors and friends who generously donated their time, energy, and equipment to take down Christmas Wreaths on 84 light posts on Dorchester Avenue, Boston Street from Columbia Road to Washburn Street and the Sharon’s Park stretch of Mount Vernon St.  A big “thank you” goes to our neighbors and friends Adam, Aiden, Christine, David, Mario, Matt, Millie, Mike and Sammy.

 

Projects under review by the zoning committee

Next zoning meeting is Wednesday, 13th March 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carpenter Center, 750 Dorchester Avenue.  Proposal for 779 Dorchester Avenue will be reviewed.

 

Police reports

Officer Sean Sullivan of C6, Officer Michael Keaney of C11, and possibly the Massachusetts State Police will give reports on activities affecting our neighborhood.
