After our brief business agenda, please join our hosts at the Carpenter Center for our Holiday Celebration to share the joy of the season with your friends and neighbors. There will be food, refreshments and holiday cheer.

Thank you!

We are grateful to Steve Connoly and his family at ATS who are the major funders of 84 Christmas Wreaths on Dorchester Avenue and Boston Street.

We thank Carolanne McDonnell of Creative Wrappings for making the bows.  We acknowledge the small band of neighbors and friends who generously donated  their time, energy, skills, and climbed ladders to place and secure Christmas Wreaths on 84 light posts on Dorchester Avenue, Boston Street from Columbia Road to Washburn Street and the Sharon’s Park stretch of Mount Vernon Street. The wreaths look fabulous thanks to everyone who pitched in, including  Alexander, Anne, Annie, Brian, Desmond, John, Juliuz, Lee, Matt, Mike and Millie.

We also thank Mayor Martin J. Walsh, all businesses, groups and individuals who generously supported the Christmas Tree Lighting at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish on 25th November. This includes Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Children’s Choir under the leadership of Michelle McCourt, director of N.C.T of Boston, Reverend John J. Ronaghan and John Gillespie of Dunkin' Donuts.

Dorchester groups seek more knowledge on cannabis impact

Dorchester community groups including the John W. McCormack Civic Association are seeking a better understanding of the impact of marijuana establishments on our neighborhoods.

They are asking for a seat at the table with the State’s Cannabis Control  Commission as well as with the City of Boston’s Office of Emerging Industries so that accurate information can be shared with neighborhood residents. These  community groups want a voice in the decisions being made, and they want to be heard as the regulations for this new industry are being developed.

We thank Marti Glynn, a Hancock Street Civic Association member who is the facilitator for this new group.
